Skip J. Freeland Obituary

Skip J. Freeland, of Town of Cambria, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. He was born in Cortland, NY, on August 16, 1939, the son of the late Reno and Hazel (Comfort) Freeland.

Mr. Freeland served with the US Army for 21 years and moved to the area in 1957. He later became the kitchen supervisor for New York State Corrections in Albion for over 18 years before retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the VFW in Ft. Myers, FL and enjoyed hunting with his son, playing baseball, golfing camping.

Mr. Freeland was the husband of 55 years to Joan E. (Antoncich) Freeland; and father of John C. Freeland and Tina M. (Vic) Battey; grandfather of Luke (Amanda) Freeland, John Freeland, Jr., Amber Trombitas, Ryan and Shawn Duffy. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of eight late brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. James R. Bastian officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.

Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice.
