Lockport, NY - Richard J. Conley, age 88, of Lockport, passed away on May 4, 2026, at Lockport Rehabilitation & Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport on May 27, 1937, he was the son of the late Francis and Marie (Liskoff) Conley.

Richard built a long and respected career as Advertising Manager for the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal. Following his retirement, he continued to give back to his community in meaningful ways. Known affectionately to many as "Mr. C," he brought joy and energy to the George Southard School as a lunch monitor. His enthusiasm created a welcoming and fun atmosphere where students eagerly looked forward to recess and time spent under his watch.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Richard remained deeply involved in local athletics and community service. He coached the Alliance Women's Softball League and was an active member of several Lockport organizations, including The Jaycees, Niagara County Jr. Miss, and the Lockport Police Board. He also dedicated his time as a volunteer with the Children's Church Outreach Ministry at Lockport Alliance Church, reflecting his strong commitment to faith and service.

Richard was predeceased by his siblings William and Sue Conley, Raymond and Patricia Conley, Barbara and Edward Pytko, Marilyn and Charles Sobieraski, Bonita and Dale Waderich, Carol and Dwight Sossong, Eugene Conley, in-laws Don Cooley and the Rev. David Stockwell.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally (Stockwell) Conley, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage; his children, Gregory (Molly) Conley, Deanna Sherman, and Christine (John) Ottaviano; his in-laws Constance Conley, Beverly Cooley, Donnie Stockwell, and Robert and Judy Hensal; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and cherished.

Richard will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His presence touched countless lives, from the workplace to the playground, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and joy. A private service will be held for family members only. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lockport Alliance Church Youth Ministry, 555 Davison Road, Lockport, New York 14094.
