Richard A. Ball Obituary

Richard A. Ball, age 80, of Olcott, entered into rest on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home. Born on March 28, 1936 in Lockport, he is the son of the late Raymond A. and Dorothy (Dietz) Ball.

Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, bowling and being a fire fighter. Dick was an exempt member of the Olcott Volunteer Fire Company serving as Chief from 1973 until 1978 and just received his 50 year service award from the Town of Newfane. When Dick was younger, he enjoyed being in the boy scouts and later became a scout leader. Dick worked for the Town of Newfane Water Treatment Plant as an engineer for many years.

Surviving Richard are his children, Deborah Colletti and Carolyn Helton; grandchildren, Bradley (Diana), Christine (Alex), Allen and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Isaiah, Hiliana, Bradley Jr, Andrew, Bradly, Cody and the late Alexander Jr.; great-great-grandchildren, Natalie and Noah; brother of Randy A. Ball; uncle of Jason (Cara); great uncle of Carter; companion of Barb Wilson; and his childrens mother, Avonell Thomas. Richard was also survived by many life-long friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 12 Noon from the funeral home. Interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to a charity of one's choice.
