Lockport, ny - Michael K. Vona entered into rest August 13, 2025. Born September 25, 1962 he was the son of Patricia and the late Frank Vona.

Mike was born in North Tonawanda, NY and grew up with his three brothers in Lockport. He graduated from DeSales High School in 1980 where he was on the wrestling, baseball, and tennis teams. Mike attended Canisius college before relocating to Georgia and Florida until he returned home in 2018. Mike married his true love, Shannon Riester, in 2021, and they settled in the Town of Lockport.

He never stopped pursuing his life long passion for sports, the outdoors, and animals, and achieved many milestones along the way. Mike was a champion bodybuilder, winning titles which included Mr. Buffalo in 1993, and the Southern USA NPC overall title in 2003. Mike parlayed that success into a string of successful health clubs and a nutrition supplement company in Florida. After retiring from bodybuilding, he pursued a brief career as a professional racquetball player on the Florida circuit, which led to a love for pickleball that he played for the rest of his life.

Mike loved fishing, especially off the Florida Coast with his brothers and his son Matt. An active member of Florida Bulldog rescue and an avid lover of all animals, Mike never passed up the opportunity to take in any stray creature in need.

Mike was fiercely loyal to his friends and family, with a great and sometimes irreverent sense of humor that punctuated a truly colorful life which will always be remembered.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife Shannon Vona. Beloved father of Matthew Vona. Cherished grandfather of Isabella Vona. Cherished son of Patricia (late Frank) Vona. Dear brother of Andrew (Caroline) Vona, William (Gina) Vona and the late Thomas Vona. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
