Middleport, New York - Melvin G. Ranney, of Middleport, age 91, died June 5, 2025 in Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born January 17, 1934 in Alden to Bert and Dorothy (Nerber) Ranney and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Melvin was a 45 year employee of Allie Brandt Bowling Lanes and worked part time at various other jobs. He was a person who enjoyed working with his hands and building things.

Mr. Ranney was predeceased by brothers: Aubrey, Carlton, Robert, Delmer and Donald.

He is survived by his two sons: Timothy Ranney and Terry (Ashley Natti) Ranney both of CA; two grandchildren: Chase and Cole; two brothers: Paul Ranney of Lockport, David (Joanne) Ranney of Akron, as well as several nieces and nephews and his best friend: Kevin Ramsey.

The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, WEDNESDAY June 11, 2025 from 11am-1pm where his funeral service will be held at 1pm immediately following visitation. Burial will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity or organization of your choice.
