Charlottsville, VA - Marion Joan Montemayor (nee Rohde) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 in Charlottesville, VA. She was born April 5, 1931 in Lockport, the daughter of the late Henry Rohde and Matilda Rohde (nee Pearce). Marion worked for most of her life at Lockport Memorial Hospital, working as candy striper, nurse's aide, and ward secretary. When a respiratory therapy department was started at the hospital, Marion took advantage of the opportunity to train as a respiratory therapist and worked in that profession until her retirement. In 2010, she moved to Virginia to be near family.
Marion was predeceased by Joseph, her husband of 41 years. She is survived by her five children, Elisa (G. Clifton,) Michael, John (Deborah), Diane (Kathy), Mary (Wiliam), 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great children.
She will be remembered for her good humor and caring nature, selfless dedication to her family, and as a passionate Parcheesi player, an avid gardener, and all-around animal lover.
Friends and family are invited to visitation Friday, May 15th from 11 AM - 1 PM with prayers immediately following at 1 PM all at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on site following visitation. A private interment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery.
