In 1948, the family moved to Pike, NY, where her father took the pastorate at the Pike Baptist Church. This was the Letchworth Central School District where she was a graduate in 1951. She went on to Houghton College, graduating with a degree in Elementary Music Education in 1955. She taught music at Wilson Central School for two years. On July 21, 1956, she married her husband, Alton Flint and they moved to Newfane.
In 1955, she had become the Choir Director of the Grace Baptist Bible Church in Newfane. She had a very active life with her family, giving private piano lessons to many students, leading the Jr. Dept. Sunday School, hosting missionaries and working for years with an International Student Group who brought internationals to visit Niagara Falls and expose them to American Christian homes. The choir was very active under her leadership and performed many cantatas and music programs as well as special music for the regular church services. Christmas, Easter and Missionary Cantatas were always a highlight of the church life. She served as director until about 1992 - over 45 years!
In her later years, she and her husband enjoyed visiting their families in different states, going to concerts at Artpark, The Buffalo Philharmonic, Amherst Symphonic Orchestra and many other programs.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Alton; and four children, Michael (Sherry) Flint of Winchester, VA, Bonnie (Mark) Pinkerton of Cedarville, OH, Timothy (Nancy) Flint of Osteen, FL and Amy (Darren) Brick of Gautier, MS.
