John R. Meindl, Jr., of Middleport, passed away at the Martin Linsin Residence in Albion due to complications from his heart and cancer. Born in Buffalo, a son of the late John Sr. and Dorothy (Culp) Meindl.

Graduated in 1950 from Middleport/Roy Hart High School. Served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Austria, Germany, California, Georgia and Texas. John worked and retired from FMC in Middleport from 1952-1995. He was a longtime farmer and avid outdoorsman and loved golfing, playing horseshoes, camping, hunting and fishing. John enjoyed bowling, playing pool and cards, especially Bridge and Euchre.

Survived by his life partner Nancy Climenhaga of Medina, her son Dirk (Sandy) Climenhaga and their children McKinley, Tyler, Reilly. Siblings Margaret (the late Delbert) Walck of VA, Janet (the late Ralph) Anderson of W. Seneca, Dotty (David) Culverwell of FL, Mary (Kenneth) Sewar of Wilson, George (Susan Spencer) Meindl of Medina OH; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Kelly, Cindy, Mary "the angel" from the Willows, for taking great care of John.

The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, Middleport on Saturday, April 29th 11:00am-1:00pm where his funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. Burial with Military Honors in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Willows, 459 E. Oak Orchard St., Medina NY 14103 or please plant your favorite tree or shrub in his honor.
