Newfane, NY - Joanne Marie Roberts, 74, entered into rest on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born in Lockport, NY on April 28, 1951, she was predeceased by her parents John and Kate Fitzgerald, stepmother Betty Jane Fitzgerald, brothers J. Michael (Ellen) and Daniel P. Fitzgerald, and stepsister Sandra Harrington.

Joanne is survived by her children Lena Roberts and Mitchell (Krista) Roberts; her sister Maureen (Steve) Merchant; and stepbrother James Brewer. Her grandchildren—Myranda, Meah, Marley, Max, Olivia, and Jack—were the great joys of her life. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.

Joanne was blessed with four lifelong friends who held a special place in her heart: Lynne Bush, Michael Bartlett, Dee Sherman, and Larry Roberts.

Joanne earned a degree in accounting and began her career at Great Lakes Battery Company. She later served as Director of Finance at the United Way, where her leadership and compassion made a lasting impact.

In 1988, Joanne discovered the work that would define her professional life: real estate. What began as a career quickly became her passion. She remained active in the field right up until her final days, known for her integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her clients.

Outside of work, Joanne was an avid gardener, a devoted reader, and someone who cherished a good conversation—especially over a cup of coffee.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Thursday, April 23rd from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 24th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
