Gordon W. Thiel Obituary

Gordon W. Thiel went into rest on September 15, 2016 with family by his side. Beloved son of the late Harvey and Thelma Thiel.

Gordon was a Korean War veteran and a longtime member of American Legion Post #665, Buffalo Troop I and the American Legion Post #410 in Lockport, NY. He retired from GM Chevrolet Tonawanda plant after 20 years of service.

Beloved husband of 61 years to Carol Thiel. Loving father of Tracy (John) Lubeck, Kelly Thiel, Tim (Denise) Thiel, and the late Gordon (Ellen) Thiel. Survived by his brother, Harvey (Denise) Thiel. Predeceased by his sister, Ethel Ulrich. Loving grandpa to ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and newphews.

The family will be present at the Bates Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM to receive family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 11AM, family and friends invited.

Memorials may be made in Gordon's name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
