Gerald W. Swan Obituary

Gerald W. "Scoop" Swan, age 92, died January 2, 2021 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born April 15, 1928 in Medina to Harold and Daisy (Flowers) Swan and was a lifetime resident of this area.

Scoop was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of Covenant United Church of Christ. He was formerly a member of the Eagles Club, the Order of the Moose, and the Elks Club.

Following his retirement Scoop loved to travel and enjoyed wintering in Zephyr Hills, FL, for over 33 years with his wife and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He truly was one fine gentleman.

Mr. Swan was predeceased by his brothers, Harold Swan, Jr., LaVerne Swan; his sisters, Shirley Bobbitt, and Gloria Pleace. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Isabel; his children, Christine (Jack) Rising of Middleport, William (Laura) Dayton, Jr., of KY; seven grandchildren, Brian, Susan, Shasta, Mary, Zachary, Rachel, Kelsey; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant United Church of Christ, 4449 Main St., Gasport, NY, 14067.
