Surprise, AZ - Douglas J. Henderson, 79, of Surprise, AZ, formerly of Niagara Falls and Lockport, NY, passed away at his home on February 20, 2026. Born September 3, 1946, he was the son of Dr. William and Thelma Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Niles.

Doug loved all sports particularly baseball and basketball, growing up. He was a graduate of Deveaux High School, Niagara Falls and later earned degrees from Springfield College and Niagara University. Doug spent most of his working years as a principal in the Lockport (NY) City School District elementary and middle schools. After retiring to Arizona, he resumed his love of sport playing golf daily, enjoying year-round sunshine and no snow. He relished being his grandchildren's "Goofy Grandpa".

He is survived by his son, Steven (Nicolie) Henderson and granddaughter Hadley of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Susan (Shawn) Simons and grandsons Anthony and Cayden of Waconia, MN. He is also survived by Nancy Henderson of Waconia, MN; niece Rebecca Niles (NV); nephew Bill Niles (IL).

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held.
