Lockport, ny - Daniel Michael Caswell entered into rest June 17, 2026. Born May 4, 1937 in Lockport NY, he was the son of Daniel and Mary (Tomaino) Caswell.

Daniel retired in 2003 after 40 years in the Newspaper Industry, holding posts as Advertising Director, General Manager, and Publisher. Daniel also served as group general manager and IT Director for Greater Niagara Newspapers. He was an Air Force veteran serving four years in the Air National Guard and four years regular Air Force duty in Germany. He was the past president of the New York State Advertising Executives Association. He served on many local boards including Eastern Niagara Chamber of Commerce and the Niagara County Community College Marketing Advisory board.

Having a love of aviation, he held Commercial, Instrument, Multi-Engine, Ground Instructor and Flight Instructor ratings. He taught Ground School for ten years at Niagara University and flight training at Niagara International for over 25 years. He was appointed a Designated Written Examiner by the Rochester Flight Standards Office in 1990 and was a FAA Safety Counselor, earning Safety Counselor of the Year in 1986.

Daniel was predeceased by his son John C. Caswell. He is survived by his nephews Mark Caswell and Dennis (Tammy) Caswell and his niece Kelley Bryer (Ron). Also survived by great nieces and a nephew Adriana Bryer, Anthony and Andrea Caswell and several cousins.

There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services with Military Honors to be held on July 18, 2026 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick's Cemetery
