Berniece E. Raff
Berniece E. Raff, known to her friends as "Bernie", a long-time resident of Royalton, NY, recently of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away January 15, 2020, at the age of 73 years.
She was born on April 30, 1946 to Ethel (Bedford) and Elwood Duchow in Medina, NY.
Bernie attended Royalton-Hartland Central School in Middleport, NY. She married Roger A. Raff on August 21, 1964, and they had two children, Ronald W. (Barbara) Raff and Rhonda E. Stoll.
She worked in the food service industry her entire career and had that special way of making everyone feel so welcomed. Along with Roger they owned and operated a bar and restaurant called The Windmill Terrace in Lockport, NY. She also managed the banquet facility at the Red Jacket Inn in Niagara Falls for many years.
She enjoyed writing, painting and other crafts, collecting antiques, baking the best pies and spent hours solving word puzzles. She loved and cared for many types of animals, but foremost she was a passionate lover of dogs, including raising Old English Sheepdogs. She could truly do anything, just not everything.
Bernie is survived by her husband of 54 years; her children, Ron and Rhonda and grandsons, Shea and Leighton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ruth Johnson.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service luncheon will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private and will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in her name can choose any Niagara County organization who advocates the caring and well-being of animals.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Bernie. I truly loved her. I will never forget all of the experience she gave me working at the Windmill Terrace. I got my 1st fancy restaurant job because of her. Prayers and sympathy.

So sorry to read of the passing of your mom. As a neighbor growing up on Graham Rd, there are probably lots of memories, but remember picking raspberries from the patch where she & Roger built their home
