Jack R. Maxfield of Wilson, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Jack was born in Canisteo, NY, on November 29, 1921, the son of the late Jesse and Marion Jack Maxfield.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII for three years in the South Pacific. He taught instrumental music for 31 years at Wilson Central School. Jack was active in the Masonic Lodge and district Deputy for many years and a member of Exley United Methodist Church in Wilson, NY.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Sweet Tracey Maxfield; two children, Paula Smith of Knoxville, TN, and Richard (Jana) Maxfield of New Windsor, N; two grandsons, Nathan and Jeremy Smith of New York City; four step-children James (Penny) Tracey, John (Martha) Tracey, Jane (William) Snyder and Judy (Ron) Yaskow, 5 step grandchildren and four great-step-children. Predeceased by his wife, Pauline Turner Maxfield.
Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY on FRIDAY from 4-7PM. A private graveside service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
