Dr. Joseph's Story
Dr. Joseph Jerome Daly, 90, of Palm Beach, FL, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2017. Born October 30, 1926, to Lawrence and Pauline Daly, raised in the Bronx, educated at Fordham Preparatory School in NYC, he completed his undergraduate degree in three years and earned his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in 1951.
Following Dr. Daly's military service in the US Army Medical Corps, he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lockport Memorial Hospital, Lockport, NY, until his retirement in 1993. He was also teaching faculty at University of Buffalo Medical School and Royal College of Surgeons of London, England.
A member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Lockport, NY, he lectured at Pre-Cana Conferences for Diocese of Buffalo and once he and Rosanne moved to Palm Beach, FL, became active at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, and especially proud of being a First Responder of Palm Beach and member of the Old Guard.
He traveled extensively with Rosanne, loved fishing, golfed until he was 89, and loved time with his family. His vibrant rendition of 'Danny Boy' was an expected blessing at family celebrations, and his kindness, love of faith and family, were priorities in his life.
A devoted husband of 53 years to Rosanne O'Brien Daly, who preceded him in death on August 12, 2010; and was a loving father to four children, Molly Daly Schmeiser of Leonardtown, MD, Maureen Daly Martin, of Boynton Beach, FL, Joseph Gerard Daly of Pittsburgh, PA, and Dr. Brien Patrick Daly of Weston, MA. Survived by nine grandchildren; and preceded in death by all five of his siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Palm Beach, FL, on Monday, May 1, at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation at crohnscolitisfoundation.org or donations to a local pro-life ministry.
