Donald Hale's Story
Donald Hale Potter of Youngstown, NY, went to be with his Savior and Lord on May 22, 2017. Born January 31, 1936 in Springville, NY, he is the son of the late Harold Evans and Eleanor Louise (Wright) Potter.
Don graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute and Central School in 1954. Later that year he met Jean Marie Neudeck when they worked at a canning factory in Springville. They were married June 11, 1955 in West Valley, NY, and moved to Youngstown, NY, in 1964.
He worked as a stationary engineer at Durez Division of Occidental Chemical for 30 years, and then at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson where he sang in the choir, served as a trustee and deacon, taught a youth Sunday school class, and was involved in many other groups and ministries.
Don loved to sail his 'Roller Coaster' Shark. He also loved to bowl with his team 'Wayne's World.' Don often helped others in their time of need, taking down trees, fixing cars, and working around the house.
Surviving besides his wife of 61 years, are his children, Katherine Lee (David) Krietor, Stephen Donald (Kathryn) Potter, Christopher Alan (late Michelle) Potter, Sandra Jean (James) Bogoniewski; sisters, Mary Judith (Robert) Wohlhueter, Prudence Eleanor (late William) Wohlhueter, and Margaret Elizabeth (late Arthur) Smith; and a brother, the late Hugh Evans Potter. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours at First Baptist Church, 251 Chestnut Street, Wilson, NY, on May 26th from 5-8P M. Service will be held on May 27th at 11 AM.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Wilson First Baptist Church or Niagara Hospice.
