David William's Story
David William Kirkpatrick passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 4, 2017 after a 12 year battle with colon cancer. He was born in July 1945 in Hinsdale, Illinois. Predeceased by his parents,Jefferson Davis Kirkpatrick and Adelle Gloria Gelis of Lockport, NY. David married Judith Carol Mott in June 1967 at Saint Peter's United Church of Christ, Lockport.
David graduated in 1963 from Lockport Senior High School and went on to serve in the Army in the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam. He earned his Machine Repair Journeyman Card through the GM Apprenticeship Program. David was employed at Harrison Radiator Division of GM for over 40 years as a machine repairman and then as a group leader. He went on a number of mission trips to Haiti, helping to build churches and schools. David was active for many years with the Olcott Lions Club and Save-a-Pet.
Survived by his wife, Judy, of 49 years; brother, Jerry Kirkpatrick; and sister, Gloriann Hutchins; niece and nephews; children, Anh Le (Michele Yotter), David Jr. (Olivia Wasiluk), Daniel Kirkpatrick of Syracuse, NY, Carol (Curt Noon); grandchildren, Brandon and Jenna Le, Kelsie Kirkpatrick, Sarah and Shannon Kirkpatrick, Kayla and Trevor Noon; and great-grandson, Christian Luzanilla.
Service is set for 12 PM on Saturday February 25th, 2017 at Lockport UCC, 98 East Avenue. Everyone is welcome.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Save-A-Pet or Niagara Hospice.
