William H. Heschke, Sr.


William H. "Sonny" Heschk,e Sr., age 92 of Gasport, died August 19, 2019 in his residence following a long illness. Sonny was born April 23, 1927 in Cambria to Harold and Gertrude (Miller) Heschke and was a life-long resident of this area.
A retiree of Harrison Radiator, Mr. Heschke spent his life working on the family farm. He was a founding member, and past Chief of the Terry's Corners Fire Department, a member of the WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association, loved to work on engines, tractors and mowers, enjoyed going to rodeos, attending Old Fashioned Days and visiting the Southern tier.
Mr. Heschke was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Clarence Heschke. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery Heschke of Gasport, William (Jean) Heschke, Jr. of Barker; his daughter, Barbara Harris of Gasport; his brother, Richard Heschke of Middleport; his sisters, Shirley Doty of Gasport, Mary Woods of Lockport, Ida (Fred) Giertz of Middleport; four grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Kenneth, Tonya; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Troy, Katlynn; great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Coulton, Bryson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Zion Lutheran Church, 4447 Central Avenue, Gasport, Saturday, September 14th from 10-11 AM where his Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM following visitation. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Terry's Corners Fire Dept., 7801 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Gasport, NY, 14067 or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY, 14094.
