William "Bill" Van Cott, 90, passed away on January 25, 2019 after a long illness in Sarasota, FL. He was born on March 13, 1928.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean conflict. He also served as Commodore of the Venice Yacht Club, 1994, and as President of the Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club, and continues to be active in these organizations. He enjoyed his boat, Ondine, and walking his best friend, Maxi.
Survived by wife, Ann; his sister, Joan Capalbo, New Rochelle, NY; and three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Lutz, Newfane, NY, Nancy Platt, Burt, NY and Barbara Meyers of Lockport, NY; as well as several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; niece and nephew. Also survived by step-son, Patrick (Karla) Totten; and step-daughter, Cathleen (Marty) Nardi.
A Memorial Flag Pole Ceremony will be held at the Venice Yacht Club on Saturday, February 9th with a private burial at sea. Please visit rutland-corwin.com to send the family a condolence.
