Roger's Story

Roger P. Harrison of Lyndonville, NY, husband of Sally Higgs Harrison, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at home. Roger was born in Norwich, NY, on December 9, 1932, the son of the late Galen and Margaret Pratt Harrison.
Roger graduated from Barker and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree at Cornell University. Roger taught for 30 years at Barker Central School, where he coached and was the voice of Barker Raiders and retired in 1988. He also coached modified football and was named a National Winner as an 'Outstanding Teacher in Vocational Agriculture.'
He was past president and a 50 year member of the Barker Lions Club. Roger was the general coordinator for Barker's Kingdom Castle Playground, the assistant Future Farmers of America coordinator, on the BCS Alumni Committee, a member of the Town of Yates Planning Board and the personal director of extensions for Orleans Hub.
Father of Beverly Seib, Sue (Doug) Capell, Kathy (Mark) Singer, Peggy (Scott) Heiligenthaler, Dave Harrison, Dan (Tom Keane) Harrison and the late Rick Harrison; grandfather of Dan (Kari) Heidemann, Lisa (Chris) Striemer, Gina (Sean) Moore, Matthew Capell, Maggie Capell, Kasie Entz, Nicole Entz, Brad McMurray, Drew McMurray and Emma Rose; great-grandfather of Nate, Abby and Nick Heidemann, Samantha, Sophia, Alexa Striemer, Jax Moore and Natalie Rath; brother of the late Pearl Brandl. Also survived by a cousin, Nancy Pratt; dear friend, Dick Weeks; and special caregivers, Erin and Wendy.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the County Line United Methodist Church from 2-3 PM, where a memorial service will be held at 3PM.
