Richard W. 'Dick''s Story
After a brief illness, Dick passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 54 years, Nora, by his side.
Born in Lockport, N.Y, Dick and Nora moved to Florida in 1978 after Dick retired following 35 years with General Motors. They were among the founding members of Port Charlotte Village.
Dick was an honored and decorated Navy veteran and served in World War II in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years and an active member of The Elks, The Moose and The Screwball Club of Lockport.
Dick lived life to the fullest in his 95 years. He loved his hockey and football, especially his Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed his weekly dinners at 'The Moose.' He remained active in his community right to the end.
Pre-deceased by his father, Richard L.Taylor; and his mother, Evah Zacariah; and infant son, Sean Edward. He will be missed by his many friends and family across the U.S., in Canada and Ireland.
Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Tidewell Hospice for their care and compassion during Dick's final days.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, October 27th at 11 AM at San Antonio Church in Port Charlotte.
