Nancy Laws-Griffin

January 29, 1940 - April 14, 2018

Nancy Laws-Griffin was born in Mullins, South Carolina, on January 29, 1940.
She then attended Benedict College in Columbia South Carolina, and earned her Bachelors of Science degree. Thereafter, she received her Masters in Education from the State University of New York at Brockport.
In 1962, Nancy was united in marriage to Eugene Alvin Laws, and to this union one child was born, Jean "Cennie" Laws. They were married for ten years until Gene was called home at the young age of 32. In 1983, Nancy met Alvin Griffin, they dated for a number of years and were married in 2000.
Nancy was a Physical Education teacher in New York State for over 30 years. She then moved to Newfane, New York and was the Jr. High School teacher for 28 years. She was lovingly known as everyone's PE teacher because she taught over three generations of Newfane children.
Nancy was a member of Newfane United Methodist Church. She also became a member of The First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lockport, New York.
Nancy was very involved in the Newfane, Lockport and Buffalo Communities. She served as a board member of the Newfane Credit Union. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a member of The Erie County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.
She was an amazing mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gene Laws; and her husband, Al Griffin. She leaves her loving memories to her daughter and son-in-law, Jean "Cennie" (Gregory) Laws-Scott of Jensen Beach, Florida; two sisters, Diane Sutton of Columbia, South Carolina and Violet May Moore of Louisville, Kentucky; nephew, Charles Holden of Columbia, SC; and the loves of her life ... her grandchildren, three granddaughters, Chandler, Morgan and Jordan Scott of Jensen Beach, FL; and a host of loving relatives, friends, and special longtime friends, Jacqueline Gibson, Anne Gibson, Lydia Jones and Corine Artis.
Memorial services will be held early summer in Newfane, NY
