It is with great sadness that the family of Linda (Spencer) Retzlaff, of Tampa, FL, announce her passing, early Tuesday morning on October 10, 2017. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 73. Linda was born in Lockport, NY on October 17, 1943 to Floyd Spencer and Florence (Campbell) Spencer. She was the loving sister of Bill Spencer of Columbus, Georgia and Lois (Spencer) Frank of Jacksonville, FL.
Linda was a graduate of Royalton-Hartland Central School District Class of '60. After graduation, she attended Brockport College where she graduated with a BS in Education. She returned to her home town of Middleport, NY and began her career as an Elementary Teacher for the Royalton-Hartland Central School district where she enjoyed 35 years of teaching service. Not only did she relish her career but she made many life-long friends at Roy-Hart. Linda was an avid reader, she enjoyed knitting and most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family. She was an adoring grandmother and beloved mother and friend. She will be dearly missed.
In 1968, Linda met and married Arthur (Pete) Retzlaff of Gasport, NY. They met on a blind date arranged by one of her student's parents and it resulted in 34 years of happy marriage and two children. Linda is survived by her son, Marc Retzlaff and his spouse, Don Kicenia, Jr. of Tampa, FL; and her daughter, Kristina (Retzlaff) Shelley, who married Daniel Shelley of Scottdale, PA and they reside in Shanghai, China with their three children, Linda's beloved grandchildren, Max, Sam and Kate Shelley.
In the spirit of Linda's passion for teaching and reading, the family is gratefully declining flowers, in lieu of memorial book, donations to the Royalton-Hartland Elementary School Library.
