Kathleen M. Deming passed away on September 19, 2017 from injuries sustained in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Woodstock, Georgia on September 9. Kathy was one of three pedestrians who were struck by a vehicle in downtown Woodstock.
Kathy was the beloved wife of Mike Deming of Marietta, Georgia. The couple were married on February 14, 1987 in Buffalo, New York and enjoyed a wonderful relationship. Not only was Kathy a fantastic wife, she was also an incredible mother to the couple's two children, Dan of Arlington, Virginia and Jon of Atlanta, Georgia. At Dan's recent wedding to his wife Rachel, Kathy was described as the "glue of the family" and this statement was so true.
Kathy was born in Buffalo, New York and spent her childhood in North Tonawanda and later Pendleton, New York. She later worked in the medical profession as an ophthalmic tech for approximately 15 years before the birth of the couple's children. She was then proud to be a stay-at-home Mom. Kathy and Mike moved to Marietta in 1998 and Kathy described that as one of the couple's best decisions.
Kathy was an incredible, selfless, friendly, genuine and dynamic person who was always doing something helpful for someone else. She so enjoyed spending time with her husband, sons, daughter-in-law, niece and her family who live in the area, other nieces and nephews, and many friends. She absolutely loved children, and was a "second mother" to many. Kathy also loved animals, especially the couple's Labrador Retrievers.
In her spare time, Kathy also served as HOA President in her Marietta community for about three years and somehow managed the couple's business interests. In addition, she was a master at fixing things around the house and maintaining a beautiful home. She also loved to cook, travel and work in the yard.
Kathy was the daughter of Sally Graham of Pendleton, New York and the late John Graham. Besides her husband, sons, mother and daughter-in-law, Kathy is survived by her brothers, Brian (Patty) and Mike (Sue); her sisters, Colleen and Patty (Mike); her nieces and nephews (and spouses) and their children, and many close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held for Kathy on September 30 at 3:00 PM at Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Drive, Woodstock, GA, with Visitation at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held after the Memorial Service at the Highland Park Community Clubhouse, located at 3903 Upland Way in Marietta, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to Atlanta Lab Rescue (www.atlantalabrescue.com) or sent to Atlanta Lab Rescue, P.O. Box 250206, Atlanta, GA 30325.
