Joyce's Story

Joyce M. Owen of Lockport, NY wife of Dwight Owen, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. She was born in Highmore, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Volz Elyea.
Joyce worked at Briarwood Manor as a case manager for 16 years. She enjoyed working with people, especially the elderly. Joyce donated to multiple organizations, her favorite being St. Joseph's Indian Reservation School. She also loved crocheting afghans and donating them to the American Legion and the Cancer Society. Mother of Angela (Ron) Gross of Volga, SD, Adrianne Sween of Rochester, NY, Brandon (Linda) Sween of Watertown, SD and Karl Sween of Glen Burnie, MD; step-mother of Faith Anne (Michael) Smith of Albion, NY and John Owen of Rochester, NY; sister of Lois Dal Porto, Sylvia Hoffman, Sharon Clayton and the late Duane and Robert Elyea, also survived by eight grandchildren and dear friends John and Debbie Crosby and Karl and Sue Driesel. A special thanks to Paul and Mary Leader for all of the help.
