James W. Kramer, Sr. of Newfane, NY, husband of Lucille Farwell Kramer, entered into rest on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. Jim was born in Pendleton, NY on June 21, 1927, the son of the late Raymond and Estelle Wagner Kramer.
Jim graduated from Lockport High School in 1945 and went on to join the U.S. Navy. He worked on his farm and at Wurlitzer until 1964, then he bought Flint Brothers Hardware Store, retiring in 1993. Jim was a life member and past President of the Newfane Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award. He was the Newfane Town Supervisor, served on Town Council and the Newfane Planning Board. Jim was a member of the Newfane United Methodist Church, where he was the Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the finance committee, the church board and the committee who oversaw the installation of the elevator at church.
Jim was a founding member of the Newfane Business Association and chairman of the J.C. Duncan Student Loan Funds. He also was a co-founder of the AnJo baseball traveling league. Jim loved traveling with his wife, Lucille, and wintering in Florida. Father of James W. (Rita) Kramer of Newfane, Carol (Ronald Stallworth) Kramer and Roger (Julia) Kramer, both of Rochester; and brother of Robert Kramer. Also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11 AM in the Newfane United Methodist Church 2699 Main St. Newfane, NY. Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery.
