James 'Jim' Donald's Story
James 'Jim' Butcher, 69, passed away on November 20, 2017 under the care of Dobson Hospice in Chandler, Arizona, from complications caused by a stroke. He was the son of the late Jesse Donald Butcher and Bessie Country.
Jim was a 1966 graduate of Lockport Senior High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict (Tet Offensive) from 1968 to1970, where he achieved the rank of Sargent (E5). After returning home from Vietnam, he attended the State University of New York College at Buffalo where he studied business.
Jim spent most of his career working in the men's clothing industry and rose to Executive Vice President of J. Riggins Clothing Company. His employment allowed him to work and live in numerous cities, including: Hartford, CT, Cleveland, OH, St. Louis, MO, and Dallas, TX. He was relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1988 where he fell in love with the desert climate. Not wanting to relocate anymore, Jim made a career change and in 1991, he became a realtor. Jim had moved so many times as a business executive, he understood the needs of those relocating, and he was able to develop a niche, specializing in corporate executive relocations. He was employed by ProSmart Realty at the time of his death.
Jim loved horses and as a young boy, he would volunteer to clean stables in exchange for the opportunity to ride. Later in life, his dreams came true and he established his own horse arena at his home in Gilbert, AZ.
