Howard A. Kirkwood, age 86, of North Tonawanda, passed away on August 28, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith (nee Brown) Kirkwood; five children, Howard 'Skip' (Natalie) Kirkwood, Jr., Stephen Kirkwood, Janet M. Kay, David (Mary) Kirkwood and Susan (John) Patterson; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Born on Easter Sunday on April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late John A. and Jessie (nee Elliott) Kirkwood and brother of the late Robert, James and Donald Kirkwood. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Howard Attended Niagara University. He served in the U.S.A.F. as a radar specialist. He joined Bell Aircraft as an Electronics Test Technician in 1955 and retired in 1992 as the Director of Manufacturing for Bell Aerospace. He was a volunteer at the Niagara Aerospace Museum. Howard was an avid golfer and supporter of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres but his family was the most important part of his life.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (Sept. 1st) from 4-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday (September 2nd) in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 61 Payne Ave. (comer of Tremont St.) in North Tonawanda. Everyone welcome. Inurnment at Elmlawn Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
