Gerald "Gerry" Duane Meiser

November 30, 1944 - March 05, 2019

Gerald Gerry Duane Meiser Gerald Duane "Gerry" Meiser, 74, passed away suddenly at his home in Westminster, SC, on March 5, 2019, with his long-time life partner, Shari L. Waldo, at his side. Gerry, the son of the late Lester and Berniece Kraatz Meiser, was born in Batavia, NY, on November 30, 1944 and lived in Medina, NY, until his junior year in high school, when his family moved to Lockport.
He graduated from Lockport High School in 1962 and shortly thereafter joined the Navy, serving on a supply ship, which gave him the chance to travel throughout the world.
Upon returning to New York in 1966 he started employment with Xerox, where he was a service representative for 39-1/2 years, retiring in 2005.
In 2007, he and Shari moved to Westminster, SC, to join her sister in the "sunny south," which pleased him immensely as he hated the cold and snow of his native Niagara County. Gerry loved to golf so was extremely happy living on the 18th fairway of a golf course. He also loved to play cards, darts and to travel and he and Shari travelled through many of the islands in the Caribbean during their 27 years together.
He is survived by Shari; his beloved daughter, Robin Leigh Smith (Jason Donaldson); and granddaughter, Charlye Jordan Smith (the "apple of his eye"), of Lockport, NY. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Norma Handrich, of Newfane; and nephews, Michael, Jay and Daniel Handrich and their families. He was predeceased by his step-father, Howard Hill; step-mother, Rita Meiser; and step-brother, James Handrich, of Niagara County.
A memorial service and internment in the East Randolph, Vermont, cemetery will be on June 28, 2019.

Shari, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember speaking with, Jerry, at our open house in 2004. He and I had talked about our service in the US Navy. He was a very fine gentleman and a very nice looking man. May he Rest in Peace.
