Evangeline Margaret Rayl, 75, passed away on January 6, 2018 at her daughter's home in Ransomville, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Evangeline was born on January 25, 1942 in Kingfield, Maine. She was the daughter of Clifton Chadbourne and Mildred Knockwood.
She served in the U.S. Air Force before getting married and having her daughters. She and her husband, Stephen Rayl, settled in Ransomville in 1974 to raise their children. After her husband's death she went to live in Maine.
Evangeline was a loving mother and generous person who worked hard for her family. She was known to help out friends and provided a home to many of her children's friends when they needed a place to stay. She worked for Goodman Farms for many years before starting a small delivery service, which she operated with her family. She was a current member of the American Legion and a former member of the Navy/Marine Club of Lockport.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her mother; her brothers, Basil, Carl and Frederick Chadbourne; sisters, Connie Boulay and Darlene Hall; sister-in-law, Susan Knockwood; brother-in-law, Robert Pillsbury, all residents of Maine; and her son-in-law, Robert Shank of Ransomville.
She is survived by her daughters, Darci (Orlando) Pazzalia of Lockport; Stephanie (Wesley) Rayl-Hayes of Las Vegas, NV, and Marcita Shank; and grandson, Evan Shank of Ransomville. She is also survived by sisters, Beverly Pillsbury, Joan (William) Niemi, Harold Knockwood; and so many loving nieces, nephews and great-nephews and great-nieces, all residing in Maine.
There are no funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice of Lockport.
